Our Story

At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief:

A guesthouse can be more than a place to stay.

It can be a place to connect — with people, with stories, and with something deeper than travel itself.

We’re an Indian–Korean couple who run Lassi Guesthouse with our family, tucked in the timeless beauty of Udaipur.

I’m originally from Seoul, South Korea. In 2010, I came to India as a curious traveller, unaware that this land — and one person in particular — would change the course of my life. I met Ravi, and what began as a brief journey turned into a lifelong story. I left my job as a primary school teacher and, in 2012, moved to Udaipur to begin a new chapter — one filled with both love and purpose.

But I could never shake the teacher in me.

I kept noticing children learning in poor conditions. I dreamed of starting an NGO — something to nurture bright young minds. Word quietly spread, and kind-hearted supporters, including Korean public organisations, began asking how they could contribute. But something held me back.

I was afraid.

Afraid that money might change my heart. That intention might give way to ambition.

So, instead of accepting donations, we chose a different path — one that could empower our community sustainably.

In 2014, we opened Lassi Guesthouse: a space where local people could find work, and where travellers could find rest, warmth, and something real.

We started small — just two rooms. But our guests became our storytellers, and their kindness spread far beyond our walls. We were featured in Lonely Planet, and soon people from across the world found their way to us. Two renovations later, and ten years on, Lassi Guesthouse is still run with the same heart, the same care, and the same dream.
